Lynn Bunim spent more than 25 years in executive external affairs positions at AT&T.  She led the company’s community positioning and public policy advocacy.  She was recognized for her superior conceptual and strategic thinking, as well as her strong organizing, planning and implementing experience.  results.  Lynn “shared” her corporate skills with the non-profit sector. While holding leadership positions on numerous non-profit boards, she brought corporate best practices to the non-profit sector.

As a non-profit leader…

Lynn’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to become a founding trustee at the San Francisco Day School.  She understands and appreciates what it takes to grow a non-profit from incubation to best in class.  Lynn is knowledgeable about the art of “matchmaking” between community-based organizations and a corporation’s desire to enhance its position in the community-at-large. While a member of the Jewish Community Federatioon of the Bay Area Board, she chaired the Executive Allocations Committee and successfully led the disbursal of more than $20 million in philanthropic grants annually.  During Lyn’s tenure as the Jewish Public Affairs Committee of California Chair (JPAC), JPAC significantly increased its ability to obtain state funding for jewish related services throughout the state and obtained a state mandated ethnic studies model curriculum.

As a civic affairs leader…

Mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr. selected Lynn to chair the City of San Francisco’s first Workforce Investment Board.  For six years she directed a public/private 50-member board, which oversaw the highly regulated and closely monitored disbursal of federal, state and local funds to help the unemployed seek work.  Her success inspired Mayor Brown to name her Chair, Mayor’s Fiscal Advisory Committee.  She managed this public/private board’s efforts to secure corporate pro bono assistance and to move private sector best practices into the public sector.
